Crossing the Atlantic!

Sailing back to Lisbon, returning from Azores Islands, on a Dufour 385.

A storm forced us to return to São Miguel in search for safe harbour. That meant 100 nautical miles back, after four dificult days strugling to sail upwind in an average 35 knots and 5 metre waves. Gusts sometimes reaching 45 knots. Waves getting bigger and bigger.

After two days docked in São Miguel (Azores) marina, the wind shifted north and we could restart our crossing. It took us 6 days to reach mainland, on an average speed over ground (SOG) of 9 knots and surfing.

Great shots and looks like a cracking sail. Don't clip onto those thin wires at the back though, they're not strong enough!
